What Sheeran’s Response Changes
Sheeran’s central point is about who made the decision to remove the support act. That matters because the name on a stadium-tour poster can make every decision appear to belong to the headline performer.

That explanation supports reporting venue pressure as a central factor. It does not provide the full contracts, the complete negotiations or proof of every alternative that might have been available.
The dispute followed Macklemore’s appearances at MetLife Stadium earlier in September, where he expressed support for Palestinians. His advocacy and performances drew objections that escalated into a disagreement over his remaining appearances.
Macklemore And The Venues Describe Different Boundaries
Macklemore has defended his advocacy and rejected the characterisation of it as antisemitic. Robert Kraft’s explanation for the Gillette Stadium decision invoked concerns about antisemitic rhetoric and imagery and the venue’s responsibility towards its audience.
Those are the parties’ positions. Their disagreement should be reported through the specific conduct and statements at issue, without treating support for Palestinians as automatically antisemitic or assuming that a stated concern about antisemitism is necessarily insincere.
